PHCL Film Show Presents

The Adventures of Robin Hood

Directed by Michael Curtiz & William Keighley

USA 1938 98 minutes

Starring Starring Errol Flynn & Olivia de Havilland

Introduced by film writer and critic Stefan Pape

To mark the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta, a dashing and delightful action adventure that celebrates the triumph over regal oppression.  Galloping steeds, dramatic swordplay and whizzing arrows combine with a fine comedy balance and vivid performances to create spectacular and fast-moving film.  It was one of the first movies shot in Technicolor and is also notable for its Oscar-winning music and recreation of medieval Britain in the southern California sun.  Lincoln was never so green!

"Magnificent, unsurpassable...the film is lavishly, brilliantly photographed , and has a great Korngold score."   NFT 1974

Doors open 7:30pm, Introduction 7:45pm, Film 8:00pm.  Tickets cost £8 (including a glass of wine or drink), and are available in the library (on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays) from Friday 5 December.  There is a limit of two tickets per person.
