Tuesday 5 October 2021 Film Show – Rear Window
Primrose Hill Community Library Film Show presents
What did you see during lockdown?
After an 18-month absence, we are delighted to be resuming our Film Shows in early October. Seating numbers are being slightly reduced to prevent overcrowding, but otherwise we hope the experience will be much as it was before the pandemic. And the programme will resume with one of the great cinematic classics
After breaking his leg, photo-journalist L.B. ‘Jeff’ Jeffries (James Stewart) is forced to spend a humid summer heat-wave recuperating in his Greenwich Village apartment. To while away the time, wheelchair-bound Jeff uses his telephoto lens to spy on his neighbours, bestowing them with nicknames and growing familiar with their daily routine.
However, things really hot up when he begins to suspect one neighbour (Raymond Burr) of murdering his invalid wife and burying her body in a flower garden. Jeff’s society girlfriend Lisa (Kelly) is initially exasperated, but then also becomes drawn into his dark obsession… Rear Window is one of Hitchcock’s finest thrillers.
