Carol takes much of her inspiration from singers Ella Fitzgerald, Carmen McRae, Sarah Vaughan, Shirley Horne and Norma Winstone. Her repertoire features many of their songs. She has worked with the inspiring singers and educators, Brigitte Beraha and Emilia Martensson. From her home in Belsize Park Carol, and her husband, the viola player lan Jewel, were the driving force, for six years, behind the annual Belsize Music Festival, which Carol has made recordings with Chris Eldred, piano and Loz Garrett bass, and most recently with the pianist Matt Robinson with whom Carol’s recordings can be heard on her website: caroljewel.com Doors open 7pm for 7:30pm start. In Menorca, where she spends time each year, she has regular gigs with the fine guitarist Pere Arguimbau, and the exciting and innovating pianist Suso Gonzalez.
